The highlight of the week: Getting wireless in our house.
The lowlight: Our second load of stuff is still not here. I know when it comes down to it that’s a first world problem and not a real problem…but it bugs.
Also, I feel like I have a lack of things to post or talk about. Were in a new area, we don’t really know anyone, we don’t really know where the cool stuff is or where the cool people go…so I have very little to talk about, except some completely mundane moving-in details. Like our new microwave… It’s too big. Way too big. Disproportionately too big. Its like when you mix and match doll furniture in a doll house…we have a Polly Pocket kitchen with a Barbie sized microwave. For real. And since we bought it off of craigslist we can’t just return it. The husband went to get it and he called to warn me about it’s girth…but I was all better too big than too small. I was wrong. There are definitely ovens smaller than this microwave. It should be called a macrowave. Or a microtsunami. The thing is just too dang big! It’s embarrassing. People are going to walk into our house and think, if I had to pinpoint this family’s interests based on first impressions I would have to say these people are really into microwaving. Instead of a fancy new car or a nice set of golf clubs, B could bring his friends over to show off our manly microwave. I can see the menfolk gathered around running their fingers along the chrome, discussing all the bells and whistles. B will stand back with his feet apart, arms folded across his chest and say, You should see the way this thing handles a Lean Cusine, as all his new friends shake their heads wondering if their wives would ever go for such an extravagance. So yeah….thats kinda it. We’ve unpacked some boxes and bought a huge microwave.
If anyone in the San Antonio area is looking for a bigger-than-you-could-possibly-need microwave, let me know.

Hey friendy.. good for you for blogging the mundane. I've simply neglected the blog because of our new state of moving, no friends, and no where to go. ha! At least our microwave fits… but our washer and dryer smelled like mildew REAL bad… it was a scare! I think we've figured it out. love your way to the other heat center of the world
Where's the picture?!
So funny. Macrowave. Ha!
Hey, may I say that you did quite an impressive job of blogging about a microwave. You had me entertained! Sorry it's not a good fit, though. Even if you felt you didn't have much to blog about, I'm glad you did it anyway because I had been wondering how you were doing!
This made me laugh out loud! Please post a picture of your comically oversized microwave.
I am only a relatively occasional blog reader, but I think this post rocks. (It entertained me, at least, which is more than most blog reading…) I too would love to see a photo.
I have only been to Texas once in my life; we were in San Antonio in March. My kids loved the Institute of Texan Cultures museum (I think that was the name). It was mucho interesting, with many cultures represented. (THere is a giant "Shalom Y'all" sign – we sent a photo to Jewish friends in NY…also, my kids thought the costumed tour guides were statues; it was hysterical to see them jump when the guides started to speak…)
Have fun making a new home!
So I always enjoy the humor within your posts, but this one had me in tears—so very, very funny.
you are so funny! we definitely need a picture!!
OH that is sad 🙂 We had one of those when we moved into this house. We kept it in the basement until we could find a new one… which we got for free! Yes! Miss you guys!
Someone gave me a microwave recipe book when I moved to college. Oh how I wish I still had it to give to you now.
Have you been to New Braunfels (even better Gruene) yet? I'm headed there this weekend. It is beautiful and super Texasy and not far from SA. Definitely a fun little adventure with the fam. (How the heck are you by the by? Long time no chat!)
I laughed so much, I cried! You are fantastic! Everything is bigger in Texas!
I went to college in San Antonio (UTHSC) and met my husband on the Riverwalk. It's a great place! Check out Seaworld, it's tons of fun for kids of all ages. I will be bringing my boys back there for Thanksgiving. They love it better than Seaworld San Diego.
Very entertaining! You know how to make even the mundane very funny.
