Our Accessible Home || Bathrooms

Hello! Our family and our accessible home was recently featured in the March 2022 issue of Better Homes & Gardens. I’ve been sharing about our home over the years and I’m finally doing a full house tour to share all the details about how we made our home accessible. You can read more about our family here.

I’m excited to finally be sharing our accessible bathrooms! But of course there is more than one way to do an accessible bathroom and I had 10 people who shared their bathrooms in 2 previous posts. You can see part 1 here, and part 2 here.

Our home has 4 full bathrooms–2 on each floor. We wanted to make sure that there was an accessible bathroom on each floor. The black and white bathroom also doubles as our guest bathroom, while the pink bathroom is Lamp and Zuzu’s primary bathroom.

Accessible Bathroom Round-Up || Part 2

Hello! I am so excited for part 2 of the accessible bathroom round up! You can see the first round up here. With 5 bathrooms in each round, that is a total of 10 accessible bathrooms! I hope these posts are super helpful for anyone who may need some ideas in navigating the renovation or new build of an accessible bathroom. I also hope these posts are eye opening for everyone in the effort and cost of creating safe and accessible spaces. I hope there are more contractors and builders out there working toward including more Universal Design and a step further, accessible design into the homes they build.

Including at least 1 entry point with zero clearance (no steps!), wider doorways (32″-36″) and a bathroom large enough to fit a wheelchair on the main floor would do WONDERS for creating more accessible homes in the market place.

I hope you enjoy the rest of these accessible bathrooms and please feel free to share and pin this post!

Accessible Bathroom Round Up || Part 1

Hello! I am so excited to share these accessible bathrooms with you all. There are so many well designed, thoughtful, beautiful and accessible bathrooms showcased here to meet a variety of needs. I have 10–TEN!–accessible bathrooms to feature. Thus, I thought it best to break it down into two separate posts. I will then do a more in depth look at my family’s bathrooms in a separate post. Here we go!
