Miggy, I have been following your blog since before you birthed Lamp. I first want to tell you that I think both of your girls are absolutely adorable and you are doing a super job of raising them.
I also want to tell you that you are so brave (and I mean that as a compliment) to tackle a king sized quilt as your first quilt. It turned out so well and is truly a work of art. I know from experience how long it takes to make a quilt AND I know how expensive they are, too. Only a true quilter will appreciate the actual hours spent piecing a quilt.
If you should need to wash it, I suggest taking it to a laundry that has huge machines, so it can swish around in lots of water. I would also throw in 2-3 color catchers so the dark gray doesn't bleed onto the white. Even though you pre-washed, there is a chance that it still could run. Ask me how I know. You can get color catchers in the grocery store in the laundry soap department. I use the ones from Shout. Also, don't dry it completely in the dryer. Find a place you can lay it flat to dry. (A floor with a flat sheet will work)
With good care, this quilt will truly last a lifetime. I have some my grandmother made in 1960. Take care.

Nami–Thank you for your input. I sure hope it lasts a long time…I plan on taking meticulous care of this baby. And I will definitely invest in some color catchers. But just so you know this wasn't actually my first quilt…I've done 2 baby quilts and a little bit bigger toddler quilt…so it was just my first big quilt. I don't think I would have even attempted this if it was my first!

Gosh I love these interviews. About this one in particular, I noticed the honesty. Kera was so honest about the tough- it makes it so you really believe her when she says she feels blessed and that she sees her children without their needs. It's strikingly brave, I think. And I'm glad she says she has a good husband and family and support system because I'm sure it can be so hard sometimes!

That is amazing and I'm so happy for all of you!!!!!! It looks like she's having a wonderful time…I have a 2 year old who makes her mommy feel pretty crummy – every. single. time. we have school dropoff – only 2 days a week mind you…the teachers have taken to sending me text messages with pictures, letting me know that in under 2 minutes, she playing and having a grand ole time…thank goodness for wonderful teachers! 🙂
This made me smile from ear to ear! So happy she is doing well! She has already changed the lives of so many people!
Oh, I am so happy! A while ago, I prayed a prayer for Lamp that pretty much covered her whole entire life….haha. That bullies would turn a blind eye to her at school…that the teenage years would be as smooth as possible (kids can be MEAN!)…I prayed for her future husband…for her future job…LOTS of things! Glad to see those prayers are already being answered! 🙂
And for a second, I was like, "How weird that she has to go to school and introduce herself as Lamp."
Then I realized, you're probably using her real name in real life…haha. You'er keepin' me on my toes this morning!

So awesome for you guys and Lamp!! When you said the teacher didn't even realize the question was about Lamp and her disabilities, I thought that is what your blog does for Lamp too. The way you describe her little personality and interests, it is so easy for readers to see past her differences. She just seems like a remarkable little person. So happy for you guys.
