Oh my gosh that is so funny! I don't usually comment but I had to say, I thought the exact same thing about the first guy and the last guy when I saw them on tv. I didn't come up with the other two though. It's funny to read posts like this because you always think you are the only one sitting on your couch at home thinking the same thing! I'm so glad everything worked out. I haven't read anything by Laura Hillenbrand, but I read her startling NY times interview. She has overcome a lot. It's stories like this that make me realize I can get through the next day if she can. Thanks for answering my questions earlier. I love your blog. We never hung out much in NYC but I was so glad I met you and the tips you gave me for my daughter (remember she and Princess Sparkle Pants both were ridiculously fussy non-sleeping babies). I feel like you were the only person that got what I was going through. When other people said, 'my baby was fussy too', I just laugh inside since Scarlett was so much more than fussy. She was just FURIOUS from the moment she was born to about 11 months. When I met you at playgroup, it was such a relief to talk to someone whose child tested them to the extreme.
Glad things are working out. Lamp spirit is so strong. Everyone can feel it. I would love to know her real name sometime.ReplyCancel

My husband and I visited San Antonio for the first time a few weekends ago, and I just have to say, I'm so jealous you guys will be living there. What a fun city. You are going to fall in love with Texas, at least I know I did. Hot humidity and all, it's fantastic.
My husband is doing dental school through the Air Force, so we visited the Lackland base while we were there, it looks decent.

Glad to hear all is well for SA. I am in SA moving my daughter into her new house. Her husband gets back from his deployment Sat. and will be doing his residency here, too. How fun! We were there las summer for my huband's internship. We were on 109th UWS. You make me wish I would've taken a better look at Washington Heights.
We're actually moving back now that the hubs is graduated. However, NJ this time around and he'll commute.

You guys should check out Governor's Island next time! It has the most gorgeous view of the city, imo, and it's perfect when it gets hot thanks to the seabreeze. Incredibly family-friendly as well, you guys can rent the quadracycles/tandem bikes(the ones that can seat anywhere from 2-6 people, and you can put the kiddos in the seats in front): http://www.govisland.com/html/home/home.shtmlReplyCancel

When I was little, my parents had a "Safety Meeting" with my brothers and I to teach us about strangers. My dad pretended to be a stranger, and we all took turns roll playing as he offered us candy and we ran off yelling, "NO! You are not my daddy!"
All was well until it came to my youngest brother. Granted, he was only about 3 or 4 years old, but when he was asked if he would like any candy, he always replied, "Yes!"
My mom got frustrated and said, "No, S, he's a stranger. What do you say?"
Confused, S replied, "Please?"

That's the worst.
I don't know if it makes you feel better, this is also the worst: a guy just came to my place to buy a nice lamp I had posted on craigslist, and I turned my back for one second to open the door and CRASH…baby knocked the lamp over and it's in a million pieces. Embarrassing and unsellable 🙁

I work in a 6th grade class with kids, most of them run of the mill but a few with challenges. One is a boy with autism (who has serious anger issues and as a result few friends, but very bright) and a student with a syndrome that results in deafness, a visual impairment bordering on legally blind, some facial abnormalities, awkward social skills and small stature (but also very bright). Sitting in class one day, discussing Greek gods and goddesses he says to her "…but YOU are the Goddess of Adorableness." Giggle, coy smile, friends for life. I love my job.ReplyCancel

I am so sorry, Miggy. I don't have a blog, but I have lost carefully constructed forum posts and comments before. Very frustrating.
Oh, and here's a little story to share. We have a border collie puppy, several weeks old, and for the SECOND time in 3 days he had a bathroom accident (But was it really? Pretty sure it was quite intentional!!)on my son's bed at bedtime–y'know right at the time you really want to rip all the bedding off and leave a bare mattress. The mess was not all in one spot either. *sigh* OK, enough of the details. There are more, but I will spare you! My sweet hubby took care of it for me both times.
Today (Thursday) is a new day for us both! Here's hoping we have a day free of messes of the blogging AND puppy kind! : DReplyCancel
