I decided to try something new last night: Stripping. Ok, ok so technically not my first time but since that other time was a complete disaster, I’m counting it as my first. How hard can it be? I mean, people do it all the time on TV so I thought, What’s the big deal? If they can do it, I can do it right? Especially if I do it outside… just makes sense.
So I got dressed. You’ve got to wear the right clothes. Lots of layers. Although it may seem counterintuitive to some, I think it’s best to start by being well covered. Then I went outside and got to work. I would usually do this kind of thing to music, but nah… I just went for it.
But almost immediately I started feeling weird about the whole thing… like it just wasn’t feeling right. I was even feeling a little nauseous. On top of that, the process was a little awkward to say the least and it didn’t seem like I was getting the results I wanted. My gut told me, it just wasn’t right.
So I grabbed my stuff, headed to the garage and pulled out the electric sander. The paint came right off! Why would I ever use a harsh chemical stripper on paint again? Especially if it was leaving me feeling a little light headed even outside.
But hey, at least I can say I tried stripping.

We’ve only got a matter of weeks left here in San Antonio! Because we kept pushing up our move-out date, time has really pulled a fast one on us. I’ve got a few projects for the new house that I want to complete here before we move, one of them has been on my to-do list forever which is recovering our living room chairs! Yay! I’m getting them professionally recovered (
hopefully he has time) but I’m refinishing the legs, which involved the attempted paint stripping mentioned above. I’m also painting a new bed frame for PSP, painting some kids chairs and meeting with a friend do start
this little DIY for one of the bedrooms in our new house. We’ve got stuff to sell on Craigslist, packing up for a road trip, not to mention all the craziness that comes with buying a practice. Luckily the military will move us one last time, so that’s a HUGE weight off our shoulders. Oi… I’m not sure why it seems I’ve waiting until the last minute for so many projects, but that always seems to be the case. We’re already going to be living in crazy, might as well make it downright psychotic. It actually seems easier to do them while we’re still in San Antonio vs. Cincinnati but I’m not sure… anyone else like to pack on the projects right before a big life event? Wish us luck!
Until you mentioned the electric sander I thought you were referring to "stripping your clothes off." When I realized my mistake I had a big laugh.
yes…. that was sorta the point. 😉
hahahahahaha hehe
I'd be happy to do some stripping, I mean sanding, with ya anytime. But seriously call me up I'd love to see how a project actually gets done 😉
