Paint Chips, Bed Frames and Light Fixtures Oh my!

My mind has been filled with thoughts of our new home (which I’m very excited about!) and all the projects we have in store.  Since we’re painting pretty much the entire house, for the first time we’re hiring this out so it can just be ready for us when we get there.  Heavens to mergatroid, I’m so excited about this.  Now my great-grandmother would never let us use the word “hate” (you don’t hate anything!) buuuuuut as far as paint colors go, there are some pretty hateful ones up on those walls right now.  It’s still daunting trying to decide from afar but even if I don’t love the exact shades and tones, it certainly can’t be worse than what we’ve got going on now.

So I had a little Instagram survey asking, What do you look for in a white?  Just to get some different opinions.  Some preferred a warmer white (I’d rather feel a little sunshine, than hospital walls!) while others tended toward the cool undertones (I regret our warmer white, all I see is yellow!).  I’m still not sure.

However almost everyone seems to prefer Benjamin Moore paint.  My mother, an interior designer, suggest the same.  In her own words, Whatever you do, do NOT use Behr.  By chance my husband was looking through a recent consumer reports and found that Behr Premium Plus Ultra Satin Enamel and their Ultra Matte were rated #1 above Benjamin Moore Aura line.  Additionally they cost about 50% less.  This totally surprised my mom.  (Not sure she’s convinced–ha!)

So I’m curious… for you Benjamin Moore lovers do you love Benjamin Moore simply because it’s the designer’s choice and you prefer the color palette?  Would you trust a consumer reports over the word of an interior designer?  Or do you think it’s just been the go-to brand for so long, that for many designers/design wanna-be’s it’s just a knee-jerk reaction?  Especially with color matching these days it seems like the no brainier choice to go with Behr.  (Besides there no way I could convince my husband to spend double when the ‘facts’ state otherwise so we’re pretty much going with Behr.)  Also, uh… do you see Farrow and Ball listed almost dead last in the satin and eggshell category?  Can anyone explain why such a high end brand would apparently be so low quality?
And by the way, what do you look for in a white?

**Also, I’m so excited to finally be using this vintage Jenny Lind full size bed frame I bought probably 2 years ago.  My husband was not happy because it was not in great shape (maybe unusable?) and why are we storing a bed we’re not using anyway?  Silly husband… I explained that when you see a vintage bed frame that you know you’re going to use someday and it’s a good price, you get it.  And I assured him that if he could make a bed from scratch, he could surely fix this frame.  Of course he did.  Built new side rails, slats and fixed the  broken headboard.  Luckily I always wanted to paint this baby white.
