iphone pic of Vernazza.  What?

I’m home!

Italy was amazing.  Like blew-my-mind-I’m-still-processing-it amazing.

I loved everything about our trip–the scenery, the food, the people, the art, the company, the history… everything!  I also love that I was just as excited to come home.  That is such a wonderful feeling and I don’t take that fact lightly.

My precocious 6 year old made this sweet little welcome home sign for me.  Upon first examination I thought it was cute and adorable.  Upon further examination, as I saw a mama bird coming back to her nest to feed her babies, I realized what an insightful, artistic representation this really is.  Perhaps it was just coincidence, so I asked my daughter what she was thinking when she made the poster.  She confirmed that she had in fact thought that my trip was just like when a mama bird leaves her babies and now I was coming back to the nest.  I know she’s my kid, but that’s brilliant.  And it was exactly how I felt.

 Venice via iphone.  Ridiculous.

This trip was full of so many new sights and tastes and feelings, my head is just spinning.  I’m tired, yet invigorated, humbled yet inspired.

As you can imagine I have so much to catch up on in regards to the home front, but I also can’t wait to share some of my favorite pictures and experiences with you.  Italy recaps will be abundant (you’ve been warned).  And over the next few weeks, if I say obnoxious things like, That one time when I was in Rome… or When I was hiking along the coast of Cinque Terra…  I simply ask for your forgiveness in advance.  I’m afraid I won’t be able to help myself.

Ciao Bella!
