Insta Weekend

We had a couple great moments captured on instagram this weekend I thought I would share. You can follow me on instagram at thislittlemiggy.

Lamp has been sick (still is, poor girl). She didn’t sleep well Thursday night and come Friday morning both girls were up way too early. I had been up and down all night and finally around 6:15 I put both girls in front of the TV. I went back to bed and when I woke up at 7:30 I jumped up realizing we didn’t have much time to get ready and out the door for school. When I walked into the kitchen I found the above scene: PSP had gotten two bowls, filled them with cereal and milk (a lot of milk) and was getting ready to feed herself and her sister. The piece de resistance was that she had tried to get her sister into her high chair, but couldn’t lift her high enough (probably good I didn’t see this). Her brilliant solution was to use her backpack and strap Lamp into the white chair. Brilliant right? Right? I was dying. She definitely inherited the jimmy-rigging gene from her papa. He’s so proud.

Later that morning Lamp was playing in sisters room and asked to wear the Snow White dress. She then told me she wanted to put in on herself–very typical. We try to encourage her independent spirit, so even when we know she can’t do something by herself, we always (if time and safety permit) let her try and say, OK, let me know if you need any help. And eventually she asks for help. So I put the dress on the floor in front of her. Just threw it down, didn’t place it in any special way. When I came back like 3 minutes later, she had it on. Homegirl had it ON! All by herself. I have no idea how she did it. I told her good job! and you did it! In her very proud big girl voice she responded, And I didn’t need any help! And then my heart melted into a giant puddle.

Simple joys. Awesome kids. Motherhood. Figuring it out.
