No Words

As soon as I got Lamp down for her afternoon nap and settled onto the computer for some “me” time I was harshly awoken to the brutal, horrible and painful tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.  My mind immediately went to my daughter–my kindergartener–where was she and what was she doing?  Was she safe?  Did she know I love her?  I was antsy the next two hours while I waited eagerly to go and pick her up.  When I got to school and saw my girl I immediately kneeled on the floor and hugged her tightly with both gratitude and guilt filling my heart.  My eyes welled with tears as I stood up and exchanged glances with another mom I often see, but don’t really know.  Her eyes were also watery as she held her sons’ hands.  We smiled a slight but knowing smile that sometimes passes between mothers as we walked away with our precious children.  We were lucky.

My thoughts and prayers are with those in Newtown Connecticut who were not as fortunate today.  We will not forget.  I pray for the comfort of those families, for the strength to somehow mourn and move forward, but never forget.

And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.  And when he had done this he wept again:  And he spake unto the multitude and said unto them: Behold your little ones.
