Missing the East Coast

I’m listening to moody fall music, looking at old pictures, feeling nostalgic and missing the east coast today.  I miss our old apartment and the view overlooking the Hudson river–yes that picture above was taken from our apartment window.  Sometimes I can’t believe we actually lived there.  Right in the city, driving up the west side highway or taking the A train pretty much anywhere.  While it’s been over 3 years since we moved away, every fall my heart aches to go back.  Especially the fall.

I miss apple picking.
I miss roadtrips to places like Boston, Amhurst, Salem, DC, Newport, and Connecticut.
Or day trips to places like Stone Barn Farms, Sleepy Hallow, Terry Town or just over the river to Edgewater.
I miss crunchy leaves and actually needing to wear a hat and jacket.
I miss Thanksgiving traditions with friends and friends of friends.
I miss Central park and the park just down the street.
And the people…don’t even get my started on all the amazing people I miss.Don’t get me wrong, I like our life here and now too.
I’m forever glad that we’re a family of 4 instead of just 3.  I like having 2 full bathrooms and enough space to stretch out a bit.  But there’s something about living in New York City.  Once it gets under your skin it remains forever in your blood and bones.
I’ll always miss it.
