No Doubt is finally releasing a new album (early September) and today they released the first single Settle Down.
It’s been over 10 years since they’ve released a new album. And while I enjoyed some Gwen Stefani solo work during their hiatus, I’m excited to get back to the original band. Gwen is awesome on her own, but Gwen + Tom + Adrian + Tony = true love. For some reason I tend to like bands more when I actually like their personal story/history…and you can’t beat a band started in high school by a group of friends with a girl lead singer pulled into the band by her older brother, one suicide and an inter-band break-up that almost brought them down. That sounds like an after-school special, not the history of a legit rock band. Am I right?
And after all these years my girl/band crush is as strong as ever. I used to have dreams all the time about meeting Gwen Stefani or almost meeting Gwen Stefani. One time, my best friend even had a dream about meeting Gwen Stefani and how she needed to find me asap so I could meet her too. Well 3 nights ago I had another meeting Gwen Stefani dream.
Now that’s love.

p.s. still working on vacation recap… did I mention over 1,500 pictures?
Just to point out my not so close claim to fame . . . At BYU a girl who lived one door over was raised next door to No Doubt and had some garage band type recordings from them. She introduced them to me that way and for some silly reason, I take some pride in liking/knowing about them before they became HUGE. And, I have always said if I got a chance to perform in a huge stadium, I would sing, "Spiderweb."
Janice, that's awesome.
And What are the chances of locating this roommate and somehow introducing me to the Stefani family?
I am so excited! No joke, when I heard the news you popped into my head. I knew you would be super pumped to have them back. good times!
Good times indeed! You were one of my biggest No Doubt cover singer supportrs… I appreciated that.
My husband booked them for a show before they were big, so he feels pretty much responsible for all their success 😉
What? ND totally owes him a favor…I have some ideas.
That's awesome.
Oh man, when you were here we should have pulled out Jared's signed copy of Tragic Kingdom! He met ND after a small show at a record store in Fullerton. The way I remember the story involves Jared telling Gwen something like, "You guys are really good, you should keep doing this." Haha. Good advice.
