Summer Vacay 2012

The past 3 summers we’ve either moved or had a baby.  Which means this is the first summer in a long time that we’ve had a big family vacation–3 whole weeks!  This vacation was broken into 4 parts…here are parts 1 & 2:  Santa Paula and Rancho Santa Margarita.  A lot of my BFF’s are from California and in my immediate post-college years I traveled there quite a bit.  I used to day dream about living the good life in the southern California sunshine and maybe someday having a little brood of beach babies.  Then a funny thing happened, I got married and moved to NYC and became an east coast snob.  A snob I tell you.  And while I still think LA is the first portal of hell, I have to admit I can see the draw of SoCal.  Try as I might it’s hard to deny the overall beauty of the sunshine state… no wonder we have family and friends who’ve put down roots in Southern California and plan on never leaving.

Pt 1.  Santa Paula

We’re lucky enough to be friends with these 2 amazing people.  They have twins–1 boy and 1 girl.  However the fact that they’re both pictured wrangling with the little man makes sense if you’ve ever seen him in action.  Love those kids.

Picking oranges from the Sunkist groves of Santa Paula.  I’ve never picked oranges off the tree before…and it’s pretty much ruined eating regular oranges for the rest of my life.

It may look cute and sweet, but without a doubt the scariest moment of the entire trip was when PSP almost dropped an unsuspecting Lamp off the John Deer.

Pt. 2.  Rancho Santa Margarita

My niece and her cute friend

Bruxie:  Sweet and savory sandwiches made from waffles.  A dream come true for B.

My brother and sister in law.  I think my sister in law might kill me, posting a picture of her eating (a cute picture might I add) but this is one of the only pictures I got of her the entire trip.  What?  They were also the peeps who watched our girls while we went on our little getaway.  We can’t thank them enough.

Everyone liked Bruxie.

Aaaaaaand scene.
