I just saw this one facebook and decided to take a minute and post it.
If you’re anything like me the Keep Calm and Carry On poster, and all it’s spinoff’s, wore out their welcome a while ago. I thought it was another hipster turned mainstream design craze, much like bird silouettes and chevron stripes (I believe I’m guilty on both accounts). I never thought of it as having a history, let alone a war-time history from a bygone era. I have a renewed respect for this little poster for its more-than-meets-the-eye message and its charming and timely reemergence into our world.

yes, i agree, such a timely (and timeless) sentiment, trendiness be darned. i have a friend who tattooed the phrase in mirror reverse on her upper chest!

And I have to agree with you….my girls are beautiful.
I find it fascinating that you weren't aware of the posters history… to me, as a New Zealander, and a colony of Britain, this is a.part of my history… I guess I was under the impression that most people in the Western world – certainly those in countries involved in the allied forces of the Second World War – would be aware of the history of such an ironic poster. I guess that its moments like this, that it becomes all too memorable, that America didn't join the Allied war effort until very late in the war….
how lovely.. thank you for sharing. I too have been getting quite a bit sick about all of the parody-ing. It's gone wayyy overboard. I am also guilty of birds 🙂
