…Make me a mess.
I realized I never really posted about Lamp’s progress with scooting since I first announced that little scoot, scoot. Well she got really good at scooting…in a circle. See her left leg is her dominant leg and so she can scoot really well in a circle going left. And that’s all we saw for a while as far as scooting–but even that was a big deal, and has helped her be a little more independant. Then little by little, she started scooting in a circle going right. So while she still prefers to scoot in a circle running counter-clockwise, she is actually pretty good at scooting both ways. In therapy they’ve been working with her learning to scoot in a straight line, you know actually moving forward. That entails rotating her hips left, right, left, right…a much trickier task. Yesterday her therapist came out after her appointment and said Lamp saw a little boy crawling and she just looked and looked at him like, wait a second…and then she just took off swinging her little arms and rotating her little legs with all her might trying to catch up to him. Now she didn’t really get too far on her own, she needed the therapists help to really go anywhere but she said she had never seen her try so hard, putting her whole body into it. The past couple of days I’ve noticed that when I set her down somewhere, a few minutes later she’s moved quite a ways from the original spot. She’s like a ninja in her stealth, sly movements–we don’t actually see it, but we know it’s happening. Just this morning I put some of sister’s toys out of her way because they have small parts and I didn’t want her getting into them. A few minutes later Princess Sparkle came to tell me that Lamp was playing in those toys. When I asked how she got them PSP said, She scooted!
Who knows, I may have to baby proof this house after all.
Get some, Lamp! Good for you!! 🙂
Yay, for lamp! I wish we could come over and play.
Congrats on the progress!! I love reading your blog and know this is a REALLY big deal for her. Keep up the good work!
