Taking Back the Curse

On Sunday we had a couple of friends over for dinner.  One of them being Azucar’s brother in law (small world.  And did you see my post from yesterday Azucar?  I fed him real pie.) and another being a friend from dental school.  Both of them are also in the Air Force, one as a dentist and one as a doctor.  You can imagine how fun these medical/dental/Air Force conversations are for me to sit through.  Anyway, at one point our new TV now back in it’s box was brought up which led to discussion of the curse.  B was sharing his supreme disappointment at having to take the TV back only because it didn’t fit in our entertainment system.  He’s been especially bummed since he got such a great deal and the next size smaller TV would be about the same price.  It was at this point that Az’s brother-in-law (who will hopefully be moving down here next year with his wife who we also really dig) pointed out that if they simply took the shelf and adjoining perpendicular divider out and cut the divider by a few inches, it would bring the shelf up and the TV would fit just fine.  Well this lit a fire under B and within a matter of seconds the menfolk were gathered around the entertainment system assessing the shelving, making projections and assuring me of the outcome.  I should have seen this coming because my husband loves a good project and this was right up his ally.  Initially I was a little skeptical, but I really shouldn’t have been.  He does good work, and it looks great.  We still have to do some touch up painting but other than that it’s perfect.  Take a look:

Take that curse!
ps.  Please excuse the messy pictures, I haven’t had time to put everything back together.
pps. but seriously don’t even ask about the minivan…the curse is still going strong on that one.
