BCP

If you’ve been over to my house for dinner, chances are you’ve had a little slice of heaven in the form of Banana Cream Pie, also known as BCP around these parts.  This is easily our most popular dessert.  And this stuff is the real deal.  There is no pudding mix in there, there is no store bought crust* and there is certainly no banana flavoring.  There are real banana’s, real cream and oh, what’s that dark stuff by the crust?  Just a layer of chocolate.  Brilliant.  So if you’ve had a slice of BCP at my house chances are you’ve asked for the recipe.  This is by far the recipe I get asked for most often.  Without fail.  It also happens to be the one recipe I’m am not allowed to give out.  Why?  Because it’s not my recipe.  It was shared by one of my bestest friends in the whole world who is a baking genius and who one day aspires to open a bakery/cafe.   So here’s here’s the thing….I’ve been asked for this recipe so many times over the years and I have never once given it out.  Not to family, not to anyone.  I have kept my word because I’m good like that.  A promise is a promise.  But there is always a little guilt associated with it…I always feel bad giving people a taste of pure BCP holiness only to tell them there is no way they can recreate this blessed taste ever again.  But no more!  I am officially relinquishing my guilt and introducing you to the master and maker of the BCP, Caroline.
