The House

Not a great picture, but a little sneak peek.
Can’t wait to do a home tour when we’re all settled in.
I’m not home yet, but I can’t hold it in any longer… I was trying to be smooth and a little coy yesterday by saying I found our new house…but I didn’t just sign a lease for a new house. I signed a lease for THE house. The house I blogged about here. The house I’ve been coveting for at least 6 months. The house I’ve been visualizing our family in everytime I think about San Antonio. I’m freaking out. And it’s not just because I’m getting that house for the next 3 years, but that I also feel like it’s the right house for us. It has everything we really wanted and more. It could not have gone any more smoothly.
Here’s a brief history of the situation. I saw this house for sale many months ago and watched it like a hawk. At the time we were still debating between buying and selling. Then one day it was gone. At first I was bummed thinking it had sold, but it hadn’t sold–the sellers had taken it off the market. I contacted the real estate agent hoping she would give me the sellers contact information so I could talk to them about renting. She wouldn’t give it to me. Probably because that’s illegal, but whatever. So when I came out this past weekend I looked at house after dissapointing house, not loving anything I was looking at. I was really started to feel bummed about the whole thing.
But Saturday afternoon I went for it. I went to the house, knocked on the door and told them how much I loved their house and how we’d like to rent it if possible. Oh and the move in date would be in about 3 weeks. Talk about a long shot.
But somehow it all worked out! I’m still pinching myself. It was perfect timing. And no doubt divine intervention. The best part is how happy everyone is. They kept telling me over and over how excited they are and what a huge favor this is for them. And I was doing cart wheels and back handsprings trying to explain to them how excited we are and what a huge favor this is for us. They were also super excited to know that we loved their house so much…apparantly mid centruy modern hasn’t caught on in San Antonio and they’ve had a lot of people think their house is “weird.” Additionally, they are super cool people in general and I think it’s going to be a great landlord/tenat match.
Well I’ve got to go catch a plane but I can safely say, mission accomplished.
