You might remember that I blogged about a huge Mother’s Day tutorial roundup over at luvinthemommyhood a couple weeks ago. Well I did one of the tutorials last week and it was not only easy but turned out great. I think what sold me is the fact that the shirt’s she used were Shade shirts…. I have a bunch of their basic t’s that I just don’t wear anymore and I was really happy to make them into something I’d wear again. The tutorial comes from Sachiko over at Tea Rose Home. Here’s the shirt she made:
It should also be noted that I wanted B to take some maternity shots of me that I’d like, so once I finished the shirt, I decided to use it for the pics…thus the reason I look a little more formal and posed. Anywho, here’s how my version turned out…
I didn’t add the corsage {at least not yet} and I only did 4 rows of ruffles as opposed to 6 since I didn’t think ruffles on my prego belly would look very flattering. Like I said, easy and I really like how it turned out. Check out the tutorial here and make one today. And if you don’t have any Shade shirts, I’m sure you could make it work with other t’s as well. Good luck Chuck.
Aww…you look so beautiful, Migs. Very maternal.
That shirt is adorable. I think I'm going to have to do this with my stash of Shade. What did you use for the ruffles? Another shade shirt, or just any fabric?
Thanks Britty. Yeah I used another shade…it takes almost a whole other shirt to make the one.
Amy dear,
When is your due date? Any more news on Lamp? I have been thinking so much about you. I have a few thoughts to share with you. (about how amazing you are). Perhaps I shall compose an email here soon.
You are one quality woman. Absolute quality.
Oh, and the shirt…adorable.
Simply lovely! Been thinking about you and Lamp a lot lately. *hugs*
Hi Miggy,
I came across your blog and was entertained, inspired and awed all in an instant. Thank you for your courage, your example and your humility. You are beautiful inside and OUT!
My name is Niki Bennett (coincidentally, my sister in law is Lindsay Schiess) and I am the founder of Love What You Got! http://www.lovewhatyougot.typepad.com I would love to feature you on my blog at some point in the future.
I loved your post about "Being Perfect". We are bombarded every day with the message that who we are and that what we have is not enough. It's people like you that are helping to change that mindset and make the world a better place.
Would you be interested/willing to write a post describing your journey to loving what you got? If so, leave me a message on my blog.
Thanks, and best of luck (and prayers) to you and your beautiful family!!!
I have a pile of old shades that I was going to toss/give away. No more!
