Dear readers,
I need your help. We’re going on a cruise in a few days! Yay. So I have an appointment to get my legs and bikini line waxed. This would be my first time, so my question is, is it worth it? At about $65-$100+ {depending on what I get done} I’m wondering if I should just pocket the money and stick with the razor? Thoughts, experiences?
Thanks,
Miggs
It's totally worth it… way easier than shaving.
I am a huge fan. Especially if you have dark hair and have to shave every day. I go to a local skin only (no hair) beauty school that has a "masters" program. That means that the students have already been through regular beauty school, and some have practiced for years, and then they go back for this additional training. You have to find out which days the masters students are there. It has been great. Around $25 and some of the best waxes I've ever had (one not so great, too, so you have to be prepared).
I would absolutely do it. I usually do bikini and underarm (which for me hurts the most; for some people it is a piece of cake).
Good luck!
In my experience the bikini wax is the best thing ever, especially if it's REALLY thorough. That's 'cause I get bumps and razor burn if I shave. If the razor works for you, then I'd keep the cash. I've never waxed my legs.
The only problem is, your first bikini wax could make you pretty irritated which you don't want especially if you have only a few days to recover before the cruise.
Ha Ha Ha! That is really funny.. i am going on a cruise in a couple of days too and I am going to attempt to wax!.. what cruise are you going on.. that would be really funny if we were on the same! we are leaving on sat on coasta cruise line????
Totally worth it! Have fun.. haha, I mean on your cruise.
Oh the angst! I feel your pain. Bikini line is definitely worth it. Keep some aloe vera or cortizone handy for a few days in case of bumps. If I had cash to drop in a salon I'd do the bikini, skip the legs, and pocket the change.
PS – love the blog.
oh geez. i tried to get a brazillian a coupel months ago. TRIED being the operative word because i had to stop her. it was SOOO PAINFUL. i thought the bikini line stuff was more painful than the brazillian stuff she started. i don't know. i will never ever ever everrrr do it again. but lots of people love it… maybe give it a try? but consider yourself warned!
At least underarms. They will never be smoother than when waxed.
Do it.
Shave the legs. Wax the bikini line. But wax a good 3 days before going.
TOTALLY worth it.
That way you can just focus on your cruise and not on the shaving!
i've only gotten the bikini wax once before & it was ok but definitely a little red. this is what i do on my legs-

i only have to use it every 2 weeks or so. it's only painful the first couple of times & totally worth the pain. i wouldn't dare use it on my woohoo though.
omg wax. it's awesome. incredibly painful… obviously. but then it goes away and you're just ridiculously happy.
Waxings an easy thing to do….definitely go to a school. And later on you should find an esthetics school that does laser hair removal. I'm in the middle of those treatments and its great.
Love little sis
PS have fun on the cruise, call me when you get back I just talked to dad….
am I too late to put a word in??? I have the BEST waxing advice EVER… if you can find it! (I'm talking bikini… and more if you want!..I do…did.. before Olive) If you can find someone who uses "hard wax" it beats EVERYTHING else, and really reduces risk of icky things you hear about other places double dipping into wax pots. They don't use soft wax and strips, its a wax that hardends and then they rip it off. It is SOOO MUCH LESS painful and so much more sanitary!!! If you find it, you'll love it.. and I've done both! Could be a little more pricey, but worth it. Can't speak for legs, I don't mind shavin'm:)

Do it. Worth it. Seriously.
Waxing can be painful, but it gives a much desirable result compared to shaving. Seeing the results makes it worth the little bit of pain, so I hope you went with it in the end. Seeing pictures of yourself with hair on unwanted parts of your body would've ruined your memories of the trip.
It is now in demand even more as a lot of people have now learned and a lot more are learning the craft of making candles at home. It is really an art in itself, the way to make candles, and is widely being learned by people of like decorating their homes and this helps them adding an extra bit to their decor.painless-wax.com
