Ever since the art-a-thon I have been in project mode. It’s invigorating to create and to see others create as well–I was totally inspired by Mo and Abbie’s beautiful work and so happy to have their participation. Small as our little band was, it was great to be a part of something.
I never mentioned this, but part of the motivation for the art-a-thon came from the fact that I could paint. I was super excited to finally get my studio…. then I became pregnant and had to stop painting again {oil paints, turpentine, paint mediums = not good for growing fetus}. Then I had a miscarriage. And while I’d still rather be pregnant I’m not, so I might as well do everything I can do in this stage of life and that means bring on the paint! I truly believe every stage of life has it’s benefits and it helps me to accept my current stage of life to focus on the things I can do, rather than the things I can’t do. So on that note I’ve done even more painting….
I never liked our yellow living room and have been wanting to change it to a light grey from day one. I finally tackled that last week! Fortunately my tall husband obliged to help me with the top of the walls, or else I’d be stuck with a yellow board around the top. So here are the pics:

I really like how it turned out–a little more sophisticated in my opinion. It’s amazing what a coat of paint can do for a room.
*I know you’re sick of hearing about the art-a-thon, but I’m already starting to plan the next one in January…so get ready. This one’s going to be big!
What was the name/brand/color of the paint you used? I'm going to be doing a lot of painting in the next two weeks before we move into our new place, and this is the exact color I'm looking for. My sis-in-law went to Restoration Hardware for me today in Portland and got paint samples for me so I can paint match here. Anyhooo…please share!
I really like it! And way to seize the day. So true. Ever part of life has something to offer – we just have to take the opportunities we're given.
CM–
I'll gladly share…the color is 'gentle rain' and it's the Behr brand–we just got it from home depot. Just a warning, it's a little more of a bluish grey than I had anticipated. I was actually shooting for a warmer grey–but after a couple days I really like it and don't care so much. Just wanted to give you a heads up because it doesn't look so blue-ish in the picture.
Abbie–thanks lady!
I have been really into grays for a few years now. it looks great. You painting looks great on gray as well. I love all that you did for the art-o-thon. I am so inspired! We were out of town on the date you set, but I am making up for it for sure! I have talked with my mother in law and she is watching the boys all morning on Wednesday so I can play! woohoo! I will let you know what happens.
I still want to do the art-a -thon even though I'm ten years late. Does finishing a website count? Yes, yes it does. And while I LOVE grey (Peter's bathroom is grey) I kind of like the yellow better for some reason! Don't shoot me.
My mom and sis. are in Ohio as we speak. I would have shown up on your doorstep.
P.S. anything you do is marvy, and I'm sure the grey will grow on me…just like the acorn mold.
Likely–Thanks and YAY! Can't wait to see what you create! Please send me pics and let me put it on my blog?? Please.
MM–Yes the website def. counts. In fact, this is weird, but I had a dream I was telling someone about your website. Serious. It was either last night or today during my nap. ummmm…I'm gonna pretend I didn't read that you liked the yellow better.
And where are your mom and sis? Do they need a place to crash?? They can come here. Fo' reals.
Ahhhh. That's so calming.
