Yesterday was my last “free” day with both girls at school and being all by myself before the baby comes, as we start Christmas break next week. So I took advantage and had a last-day-to-myself-extravangaza including a leisurely breakfast with a friend, a trip to Sephora (where the product I purchased is called Erase Paste specifically made to cover up under-eye bags. A fitting purchase as I await baby #3. ps it works super well!) and a reflexology foot treatment. It was nice. But as always, when the time rolls around to picking up Lamp and then her older sister I miss my babies so much and all I want to do is cuddle with them on the couch and hear every little detail about their day. Not that I actually get those details, but they usually manage to give me a few scraps. There’s not a foot rub on the planet that feels as good as home and family. It’s nice to be reminded of that from time to time.
I also wanted to say thanks to all the love and support on my last post. While I’ve never hid the fact that I’ve dealt with PPD, I also realize that many–including close friends and family–didn’t even know the extent to which I have dealt with it. It was good to hear from so many of you via comments and FB about your own experiences. Feeling that you’re not alone, that you’re not the only smart, strong, capable woman who has experienced something that makes you feel less than smart, strong and capable certainly helps me to keep it in perspective. For me, I’m lucky in that PPD always goes away and I always get throughout those tough baby stages. I recognize that many of my friends and loved ones struggle with depression on a more consistent basis and my PPD has given me much more compassion for those whose mental health isn’t limited to a few short months. In that way, I’m grateful for the perspective PPD has given me.
The Christmas anticipation is building around here! I’m excited to spend the next couple weeks with my family, to watch little eyes and hearts experience the magic of Christmas, to be reminded of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and the many gifts we enjoy because of his life, and amidst it all to welcome a new little person into our family! Exciting times… I’ll keep you posted!
Have a great weekend.
I love this! I tried to comment on your baby post and it won't let me. I want to comment on this one anyway because I love that gift from PSP. Seriously, nothing better than a homemade gift from a sibling. I love it. Congratulations dear friend! I have been thinking about you and that wonderful family of yours!
