Beanies birthday is coming up and I think it’s high time she have her own kitchen. I of course prefer wood and something that looks nice. However, I’m wondering if I should consider something plastic with lights, bells and whistles. My gut tells me she won’t care–she’s still at that tender age where she’s elated and grateful for any and all gifts. Here are the ones I like so far.
These first two come from Educo. At first they seemed really different, but now I feel like they’re actually pretty similar–basic stovetop and oven units. However the bottom one is cheaper and comes with the utensils and some food.
Pros: Nice design and unisex colors. I dig the wood.
Cons: On the small-ish side.
Now this one is the whole kit ‘n kaboodle. A fridge? And sink and stove and oven? It’s pretty sweet.
Pros: It’s got it all and I’m sure the princess would love it.
Cons: It’s very pink.
Finally this little set. No fridge, but you could get a washer instead. LOVE the colors and construction. It’s beautiful.
Pros: Favorite design and color scheme, which is still gender neutral.
Cons: Only available in the UK. LAME.
Thoughts? Am I missing a serious play kitchen contender? I know there are some amazing homemade kitchens out there, but I’m just not sure I have the time/energy to pull it off.
So I got Ella this one

for Christmas and she's loved it. Not quite as fancy as the Retro one, but also not as pricey (or as pink–it looks even more pink online than in reality because of the room they have it in).
The curtains for the pie cabinet come off very easily and would be a piece of cake (pie?) to make and customize it a bit.
My only disappointment was that I somehow thought magnet closure meant that the fridge was magnetic and I had visions of finding Ella her very own magnets…
Not so. But still pretty great.
We vote the pink one, it has a lot of doors and things to do… but Bracken says it's too pink.
Alissa–that one is cute. And pretty affordable considering it's PB.
Katie and Dorthy–well tell B he might just have to suck it up. The Princess just asked if she could bring that pink kitchen to our home. 🙂
I saw a really cute wooden one at target last night-red and white, good for boys or girls. Not sure what brand, but my wild guess is that it's less expensive than the pb one.
My favorite is the plan toys kitchen center. We bought it for O a couple of months ago for a crazy steal (I mean really crazy). We have yet to give it to her because she got other stuff for christmas and we don't want her getting all spoiled on us. I love the quality and gender neutral color (ours is orange). Both sides open up…a dishwasher and oven.

Wood is the way to go. They last longer and are really cute. I think target has a decent one. It's pretty cute. You should check it out.
Dude. Why does ENGLAND get all the good stuff? Completely unfair.
We have a plastic one, but it was given to us for free, so I'm not complaining.
I like the Land of Nod one. You can find it here at http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=10082&f=4051
Get the one you like. She probably won't care and will play with whichever. Boys even love these, so you're buying a toy for two really.
