Family Valentine’s Dinner, notice the belly peeking out?
It was a nice, mellow Valentine’s weekend.
Fortunately for me the internet provided a couple of good Valentine’s ideas. The Princess and I made these Valentine’s for our Dad/Husband. He liked them.
We also tried our this dessert for our family Valentine’s dinner. They were really, really good.
The man of the house, brought home a beautiful bouquet of roses for me on Friday afternoon. The Princess was just as excited and kept saying, Thanks for bringing my mom flowers, dad. Thank you! I think one of the best things we can do for our kids is to show our love and respect for our spouses. It means so much to them to know we love each other and to see that love demonstrated.
The big girl hanging her bag with the bikie inside on the door handle for the binkie fairy.
This weekend was also a very important weekend for our big girl. She had a special visit from the Binkie Fairy. While she only uses her binkie during naps or nighttime, it was time to pull the plug…. literally. Her 3rd birthday is approaching and seeing as how the Mr. is a pediatric dentist…it was time. {The American board of pediatric dentists recommends no more pacifiers after the age of 3 FYI. This will allow time for the teeth and palate to reposition properly. Dear hubs, if you’re reading this and I misspoke, please correct me.} I personally think it helped to give her plenty of notice and to talk to her about this impending visit from the Binkie Fairy for weeks ahead of time. {For those of you out of the loop, the Binkie Fairy comes and takes the binkies away from the big kids and gives them to the babies. Our particular Binkie Fairy also gave left her a big girl present in return. In order to get the present she had to place her binkie in a special bag, and leave the bag on the doorknob of the front door.} She told me she was going to be sad at night time. I agreed and told her it was going to be tough, but that she’d make it through. Last night was the first night going to bed with no binkie and she was quite the brave little girl. I heard her quietly cry and say I want my binkie. Eventually she fell asleep. She woke up another time due to a cough and I also had to talk her back down and let her know she could do it. She slept in until 8. We might have a few more rough days ahead of us, but I think she’s going to do just fine.
Knock on wood.
That's really cute how she was so big about giving her binkie to the binkie fairy 🙂 Also, just wanted to let you know that I made the pizza (pear & gorgonzola) and it was SO GOOD! You were right too about the pizza dough not being that hard to make….now that I've made it once, I feel like I could easily do it again and not be so intimidated. Plus thanks to you, I found out that I love gorgonzola cheese 🙂
Good job making a glorious dinner with fabulous decor and cards. Yay Binkie Fairy. You are a super mom!
Oh Miggy, you look so presh all prego and everything. And what a sweet Valentine's Day. One of these days, I'll make every holiday special. I guess that requires thinking of the holidays more than the day before. 🙂
