So remember when I was trying to figure out what play kitchen to buy Beanie for her birthday? Well, it was actually none of those…but we bought one on line and spent a decent amount. Her reaction? Ho-hum. Oh well… we figured she’d eventually be happy just to have a play kitchen. Of course I still really wished we would have been able to find something to make/fix up ourselves. Sometime later B spotted a little kitchen on Craigstlist for $20 and said Too bad we didn’t find this earlier. It was homemade, with sturdy wood and I loved it. Too bad nothing! I called the play kitchen company where we purchased Beanie’s kitchen and arranged a return. We picked up the little homemade kitchen for 20 bucks and got to work. We just finished last night and here’s the big unveiling.

As you can see we painted the whole thing, added a sink, burners and updated some of the hardware. The color scheme came from the backsplash, which just happens to be paper from Snow and Graham–it was simply mod-podged on the back. We’re thinking about changing the handles on the sink to something more chrome-y, and I may add a skirt under the kitchen sink, but overall we’re really pleased with it… actually I love how it turned out. Beanie’s reaction? Ho-hum. Oh well… at least we didn’t spend a pretty penny and now we have something completely original that we made and love. I also love that my husband and I like to make things together and whether or not it actually happens, I’m envisioning this kitchen being played with by future generations for years to come. Good times.
Well my reaction is definitely not ho-hum. LOVE IT!
It looks fabulous. I love your projects. still waiting for Josh to give me an old shirt to try to make the little girl dress.
I'm jealous. It's beautiful.
miggy, could you BE ANY COOLER?? look at how awesomely awesome this is. i wants one all for me.
What are the burners? They look like frisbees, but I'm sure they're not. 🙂
Wow! Could you come remodel our kitchen now? It looks so sassy and cute! If I were your child I'd love it!
Yeah, what are the burners?
Darling! She will have the most stylish kitchen on the block! Way to go on the thrifty makeover! Love it!
Gorgeous! Love the color scheme.
Thanks everyone!
And even though I already talked to you Tamra, I'm just going to clear it up…no those are not frisbees. They're just these little wooden things {for lack of a better word} we bought from Michael's. I think they could be used for mini plaque's or something….I don't know, but they were just right.
I love it!
