Some yellow cleaning gloves + a 4 year old imagination and you’ve got chicken feet. Just a little glimpse into our morning.
It seems we’re having a hard time getting back into the groove of things. I’m trying to get the girls back on a schedule and that means I want Lampy napping at home. So that and the 90+ degree weather means we’re starting to get a little cabin fever-y/bored. Which means I may or may not be letting Princess Sparkle watch too much TV. Which means I may or may not be feeling like a neglectful mom. So it goes.
The good news is that we’ve finally got our clearance for San Antonio. Phew! We’re so so so so grateful this happened. We were already feeling a little up against the wall for time, but things are going to be fine. We still have plenty to do in the next month, but it’s doable. Now if we can just find a great home for the next 3 years we’ll be set.
Finally, I have a book recommendation for you.
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption.
by Laura Hillenbrand
Go get this book now.
Or put in on hold at your local library.
Just do it.
This is the last book I’m reading for my farewell bookgroup’s meeting and it was a great choice. I’m not yet half-way through this book but it’s gooood. Really, really good. I’m a sucker for WWII non-fiction so this is right up my ally. For some reason reading WWII era books always makes me realize how easy I have it and how beautiful and fragile life is at the same time. Read more about it here.
Any summer reading you’d like to recommend?
Yay, cleared for San Antonio! That's such great news. And I love the chicken feet. Kids are the best!
I'm so glad everything worked out. I haven't read anything by Laura Hillenbrand, but I read her startling NY times interview. She has overcome a lot. It's stories like this that make me realize I can get through the next day if she can. If you haven't read it: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/04/an-author-escapes-from-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/
That book is the best!! I read it in Novemeber and bought several copies for Christmas presents.
Thanks for answering my questions earlier. I love your blog. We never hung out much in NYC but I was so glad I met you and the tips you gave me for my daughter (remember she and Princess Sparkle Pants both were ridiculously fussy non-sleeping babies). I feel like you were the only person that got what I was going through. When other people said, 'my baby was fussy too', I just laugh inside since Scarlett was so much more than fussy. She was just FURIOUS from the moment she was born to about 11 months. When I met you at playgroup, it was such a relief to talk to someone whose child tested them to the extreme.
Glad things are working out. Lamp spirit is so strong. Everyone can feel it. I would love to know her real name sometime.
My husband and I visited San Antonio for the first time a few weekends ago, and I just have to say, I'm so jealous you guys will be living there. What a fun city. You are going to fall in love with Texas, at least I know I did. Hot humidity and all, it's fantastic.
My husband is doing dental school through the Air Force, so we visited the Lackland base while we were there, it looks decent.
Good luck finding housing, there are some great looking neighborhoods down there.
P.S. I don't know you, but I randomly found your blog, and I'm kind of hooked now. I hope that's not creepy.
Glad to hear all is well for SA. I am in SA moving my daughter into her new house. Her husband gets back from his deployment Sat. and will be doing his residency here, too. Good luck looking for a place. We exchanged a few messages some time back about SA. We've done TONS of research on neighborhoods and schools, so let me know if I can help out. BTW, I'm headed to NYC after I finish with the move. I {heart} NY, too!
LOVE the chicken feet, Princess Sparkle Pants! They are perfect. Oh, I am so thankful that you got the clearance to go to San Antonio. What a big weight off of your mind. Now we will be neighbors! OK, I'm stretching it a bit, but we'll both be in Texas, so that's almost the same, huh? I'll enjoy thinking of your being closer. : ) I'm in the Fort Worth area.
