Kids are so good at enjoying the sweet and simple things in life. Dirt, rocks, grass, a little purple planter, and the company of a sister.
Sometimes I hate the pressure I feel in this digital age to capture every moment–blog about it, instagram, FB, tweet, print it out, scrapbook it and make sure you have two copies. But sometimes when I’m doing the dishes and I look up and out the kitchen window to see the most simple, pure, beautiful and fleeting moments of childhood playing out in front of my eyes, you can bet your bottom dollar I’m grateful to live in this digital age. The truth is, sometimes it takes a viewfinder and the click of a button to make me slow down and soak in the moment. Disney world, ballet class, good grades, exciting accomplishments… I’m pretty sure it’s these unscripted little moments I’m going to miss the most. Even just a few days later I’m grateful to remember what they wore, how they looked, the scraggly hair, the scooting in gravel, their beautiful faces and the utter lack of worry. Companionship, rocks and dirt. That, my friends, is childhood at it’s best.
I so hear what you are saying. I stress out about capturing memories. I so appreciate this post.
Loved this.
This is so lovely, you have a beautiful family!
