Plungers and Toilet Brushes Can Be Pretty!

This post is in partnership with Full Circle. All opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting sponsors here at TLM!

I remember once reading a blog post wherein the question was posed, “What is one of the most important things to provide when guests are staying at your house?” The consensus? A plunger.

Yes! Of course. No one wants to have to ask their host for a plunger! Plungers, and I would add toilet brushes, are items you don’t really like to think or talk about, but boy are you sure glad they exist. And when you need one, YOU NEED ONE.

Plungers and toilet brushes are also top on the list of items you’re not really excited to shop for. I’m always looking for something a little more sleek and modern than the white plastic options in the cleaning isle, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money either. Also, why do the bristles on the toilet brushes have to be white? We all know they don’t stay white–gag–even when I soak it in bleach. Years ago I tried the disposable toilet brushes as it felt like the most sanitary option, but throwing out a brush head after just a single use was too wasteful. I’ve honestly been putting off purchasing plungers and toilet bowl brushes for the new house for months because I couldn’t find what I was looking for. Then Full Circle reached out to ask me if I would be interested in their new bathroom line and would you think me a little dramatic if I were to say THESE ARE THE PLUNGERS AND TOILET BRUSHES OF MY DREAMS!!!

Sleek + modern? Check.
Affordable? Check.
Made from sustainable materials? Check.
BLACK BRISTLES FOR THE TOILET BRUSH? CHECK!!!!!

And there’s more. The plunger (The Royal Plunge), toilet brush (Scrub Queen), and toothbrush holder (Keep It Clean) all have this amazing Dry Earth technology. What is Dry Earth technology? Well they are these little disks that you place at the bottom of each tray and–get this—they’re made from aquatic fossils found at the bottom of the sea. But that’s not even the cool part! The cool part is that the Dry Earth disks absorb excess water, allowing it to quickly evaporate, keeping the containers dry while preventing bacteria and mold from growing (and making this part of your life way less gross). You guys, these things are genius! Even just rinsing off the plunger and placing back into the base I can see how quickly the dry earth disk absorbs the water. There’s no way around the fact that plungers and toilet brushes are coming in contact with water that has come in contact with, well YOU KNOW, but if I can do anything in my power to prevent nasty water just sitting there then I am all about it. And you can even buy replaceable brush heads for the toilet bowl brush because no matter what, those things need to be replaced every once in a while. And this way, you’re using a lot less waste than buying a whole new toilet bowl brush every time.

As for sustainable materials almost everything is ceramic, which is a 100% natural substance and requires less energy to make than most other materials. The handles of the plunger and toilet brush are made from bamboo and recycled aluminum.

And they’re pretty. For the most part toilet brushes and plungers are items that we’ve trained ourselves not to see. We all know they need to be there, but we also know they’re ugly so we just train our eye to skip right over them. That is until you see this pretty little pair and you’re like, “Wait a second … it’s not a requirement for these things to be ugly?” Much like seeing a man or woman in uniform, they demand my respect. And now instead of pretending they don’t exist I find myself looking at them and saying, more in my head than aloud, “Thank you for your service,” as I confidently flush the toilet. The entire bathroom collection is lovely. The soap dish, the toothbrush holder and the catch-all tray are beautiful and simple. Again they are all ceramic and they all have non-slip and non-scratch pads on the bottom. They look good all together, but I also think they mix and match well with other pieces if you don’t want things looking too uniform.

Once again I appreciate Full Circle’s eye for detail and design while combining sustainability with quality because really, the items that we use and look at every day in our home should not be eyesores we simply learn to live with, but rather functional and beautiful pieces that add beauty to purpose, and elevate the everyday.

I admit I wasn’t always one for making sure my most utilitarian items in the house were also pleasant to look at—I guess it felt a little froufrou—like I cared too much? But guess what? I do care. I realized that was worrying about what other people might think, more than what I actually wanted. I want my everyday items to be as pretty as they are functional. What about you? Are you a sucker for beautiful cleaning products and tools as well? What is your must have when it comes to the utilitarian items in your home? Any one else as excited about dark bristles on the toilet brush as I am??? See the entire bathroom collection here.
