Thursday Link Round Up

Can I do a link round up on a Thursday? Why not I say. There are so many things I’ve been reading and wanting to talk about for a long time, but it’s so hard to fit it all in. So here are some of the many things I’ve been reading, watching, thinking, laughing and enjoying lately. Hang in there, the weekend is almost here!

This really helped me understand grief better.

I come back and watch this every few months for laughs. Quirky and creative.

It’s hard keeping up with the crazy-train that is Trump, but this interview at least helped me understand what is going on lately and why we haven’t seen more follow through from Democrats.

My favorite summer sandals–I’ve been wearing them non-stop. (On sale! They’re going fast!)

You guys probably heard about the new Barbie dolls in wheelchairs and with prosthetics right? But here’s the thing… this isn’t the first Barbie with a wheelchair… Wheelchair Becky was announced in 1997 and she was in instant hit–selling over 6K dolls in the first two weeks! Yay! Until kids realized that Barbie’s DreamHouse wasn’t accessible–Becky didn’t fit in the doorways, the hallways, etc. When Becky didn’t fit in the dollhouse, instead of changing Barbie’s world, they got rid of Becky. If that doesn’t say something about our views of disability I don’t know what does. Looks like Mattel isn’t making this mistake this time around as their new wheelchair-using Barbie will come with a ramp to be able to access the DreamHouse.

OF COURSE Ellen had this guy on her show. (Yay!)

Whether you’re a stay at home mom, or a full time working mom I think this is a great podcast episode for all moms (and dads) to listen to. Speaking of moms…

Surviving Mother’s Day when you have a toxic mom. Related, this subreddit group for when you need a mom but don’t have a supportive one.

Knit some socks for Cri Du Chat awareness week!

I get asked about these earrings quite a bit.

Also don’t forget that I’m doing a giveaway with another children’s book (that also centers around disability) and you’ll get 2 books to feep for yourself and 2 to give to your favorite teacher! It’s an Instagram only giveaway–enter here.

See you back here tomorrow for a great Special Needs spotlight!
