Last Minute Easter Basket Gifts

photo by my friend Reachel Bagely of Cardigan Empire.

I honestly haven’t thought much about Easter until a few readers and friends told me they’re going to be adding my book, When Charley Met Emma, to their kids Easter baskets! Amazing! And honestly, it is a great Easter basket stuffer–a book that teaches children about kindness and inclusion? Sounds Jesus approved to me! And for those of you who have been putting off your Easter Basket purchases (raising my hand!) here are some last-minute ideas for you that you can get at Target or Amazon* in time for Easter Sunday if you order in the next couple of days (I’m ordering today just to be safe). Some of these we’ve already got and some I’m throwing in my shopping cart right now!

From top to bottom, left to right:
Unicorn Hair Dye / My girls LOVE this semi permanent hair dye and even with their brown locks it shows up really, really well. Just make sure you get full coverage colors if you have kids with darker hair.
Root Viewer Grow Kit / I mean is it even Easter if you don’t have something to represent growth, rebirth and new life?
Popsicle Sponges / I try to not to get too much “stuff” but rather things they’ll use up or create with, however these bath sponges were so cute I couldn’t resist. Also, sometimes we need a little incentive to get them in the bathtub in the first place amiright?
Nail Polish / The perfect shade of petal pink.
Scrunchies / Like it or not scrunchies are back! And don’t tell anyone, but I kinda like it! Especially these little bow ones. Also, they are so much kinder to hair than regular ponytail holders.
When Charley Met Emma / A book to teach our children “Different isn’t weird, sad, bad or strange. Different is different. And different is OK!”
Egg Painting Party / I love Kid Made Modern craft kits and this one is great! What a perfect way to incorporate some home-made Easter decor made by your kids for years to come. (This one might need to come out a day or two before the baskets.)
Agate Notebooks /   Again, I always try to keep the “stuff” to a minimum unless it’s useful. And who doesn’t love notebooks? My girls devour little notebooks like the little treasures they are.

*FYI, none of these are affiliate links. I know! I probably should figure out how to do that by now, but I’m just too lazy.
