Miggy’s Music Monday–Band of Horses

In honor of the concert I’m (hopefully) attending tonight (if my back holds out) today’s Music Monday is all about Band of Horses. This band has been on my concert bucket list for years. They just happen to be opening up for Neil Young and to some I know it’s a little blasphemous to be more excited to see Band of Horses than Neil, but it’s just the truth you guys… I have to speak my truth. Amen. I was introduced to these guys back in 2008 and they have been in heavy rotation on my playlists since then.  Just straight up, good ol’ rock n’ roll with some southern influence. Melodic with really great vocals. Sigh. I’m a sucker for bluesy pipes that can hit the high notes… coughcoughRobertPlantcough. They have 4 albums and I would say I love the first three 100% and the last one about 80%.  It happens. So really if you check them out on spotify you can listen to any of the albums the whole way through without a single desire to skip a track. (Except that last album perhaps–but still good!) If you wanted 10 songs to get started here are my top 10 Band of Horses songs in no particular order.  Undoubtedly their biggest “hit” is The Funeral, so you may want to check that out first… if you’re one of those “hits only” people. (Also, I linked to all these songs on youtube for you so you could give them a listen.  But if you like it, be a decent consumer of music and just purchase the album.  Just remember WWTD?  What would Taylor Do?)
