Checking In

The art-a-thon went well.  Truthfully I’m not finished and that’s OK.  I used to really put a lot of emphasis on finishing in 24 hours, but if I’m mostly finished and have a few pieces I can work on for a week or two, I’m happy with that as well.  The piece above is finished however and so far it’s my favorite.  This is just a crappy iphone photo and so there’s some glare and it’s a little fuzzy….but I really like it.  This is the painting I’m going to put above our bed, so it’s not for sale, but I’ll post the rest of them once they’re finished.

During this art-a-thon I ended up listening to an audiobook–the first book I think I’ve ever completely listened to as I prefer the ancient art of reading.  But friends, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this book since and have even started listening to it again.  Do yourself a favor and read The Fault in our Stars.

The movie has already started filming, so you don’t want to miss out on that right?  Also, it’s really well written, and finally features teenagers that while fiction are the kind of teenagers you can actually imagine existing and more importantly they’re the kind of teenagers you would actually want to hang out with.  No vampires, werewolves or dystopian future… just cancer cells.  Plus one of the characters is an amputee and you know I have a soft spot for amputees, congenital or otherwise.

Hope you’re having a fantastic Thursday.
