Makeover

I’m so excited you guys, the blog is finally getting a professional makeover.  Yay!  I started working with a designer to bring some polish to this little blog of mine and the process has been really fun.  So far I’ve designed every header myself and even though I use a simple blogger template I’ve handled all the technical issues and changes on the back end myself as well.  And frankly I’m not that good!  There are so many things I’d like to have on the blog that I just don’t know how to do, not to mention the perks of working with someone who has experience and a professional eye.

So I’m a little hesitant to address this issue as I don’t feel I necessarily need to explain myself–it’s my blog after all and I can handle it or not handle it as I please.  However, a blog overhaul begs the question, why?  I know I’ve been a devoted reader to some blogs that start to change and “go corporate” as I say, and admittedly I feel like the blog I loved in the beginning is no longer the blog I still love.  Also, it must be said that there are some blogs that have gone corporate while still maintaining the original vibe I loved in the first place–and good for them!  What I want to say is that I have no plans to change the integrity of the blog as it now stands.  It will still be me.  I am the writer, photographer, thinker, DIY’r, spotlighter, etc.  A guest post here and there might happen, but we’ll see.  Am I trying to grow the blog?  In as much as I stay true to myself, I’d love to have more readers and breadth.  One reason is because I really do believe in the spotlight and the education and enlightenment it has brought to me and those of you who currently read.  I consider myself an advocate for those with special needs and if I can do anything to elevate that platform I’m going to do so.   And yes, partially because I put in a lot of time and effort on here and any extra compensation would be a bonus.  This is really like a part-time job for me.  I already have ads, I occasionally do a sponsored post and that won’t change.  One thing I do plan on doing more of and focusing more on is my art and creative side.  I love to paint and create.  Outside of my family, that is my main passion.  So you can look for more of that (hopefully) in the months to come.   (Of course then we’ll have a new baby and it will probably all go away again…so it goes).

Overall the process has been really fun.  It’s been exciting to work with someone who does this professionally and I dig the back and forth process of creating something together.

As always, thanks for your love and support for this little blog of mine.
It has always been a labor of love and I’m excited to continue that work.

Hugs,
Migs
