As you know every now and then there’s a little lapse in the special needs spotlight–no worries we’ll be back next week with a great one!–but in the meantime I usually try to find a suitable substitution, especially something in the world of special needs. I remember coming across this video last summer when I was googling all things Olympic and came across this amazing story of former Olympic athlete Dominique Moceanu. This is really a mind-blowing story, one of those truth-is-stranger-than-fiction situations. I was so overcome with emotion when I first watched this clip, and you’ll see why. You’ll also see why I love the ending of this story and completely relate to the ‘moral’ shared. Enjoy! (And maybe grab some kleenix.)

Hugs, not drugs!
(Is that a good Friday closing?)
That is amazing. Thanks for posting.
"When it came to family, I hit the jackpot." That was such a sweet statement.
I loved this. So inspiring.
Its amazing that as a gymnastics coach and growing up in the sport that I had not heard this story until now. Thank you for posting it and I just hope that I can be a coach that one day will have the opportunity to help every child reach their dreams as her coach did. 🙂
Wow, that is such an awesome story. I love that the sisters found each other eventually!
