Remember the desk door? As much as I love it, the one drawback is that it doesn’t have any drawers or storage. Additionally I also wanted some sort of cork board for notes, pictures, etc. So I had the idea to use another door to create this space. I was hesitant to use another door because I didn’t want to be it’s all about doors! but I just liked the idea and shoot I had an extra door anyway. I think it turned out well.
Before:
After:
I cut some foam core the size of the upper square. Then I cut out some cork the same size (the cork comes in rolls, I got mine from Office Max) and used a spray adhesive to attach the cork to the foam core. Then I used a double sided foam mounting tape to attach the whole thing to the door. For the bottom portion I bought the Deko-System wall mounted rack and accessories from the Container Store and just mounted it on the door. Now we just need to get some brackets and mount it to the wall so it’s not just leaning against the wall.
I think we’re going to leave it behind the desk so we’re only using the upper portion, but I think this would look great if you used the whole door and created one big calendar/whiteboard/storage area for mail and notes.

GENIUS!
Great idea! I love it! I also love your special calendar. : )
It turned out so well! Lovely little space you have there.
That is darling! I wish I had a door, a place for it, and the ambition for such a project!
You are so creative ! I really like it 🙂
Miggy, I have to say you always amaze me! Well done! It looks great!
ooo nice door idea. LOVE. IT. We've got an extra door hanging out in our garage… It's a very white and clean suburban one but I've got some ideas for it. LOVED how yours turned out! sometimes I feel like we have the same wave lengths going on at the same time, but in two different states…. oh and… you are always COMPLETING things! Have I said this before? I always think it! Love your guts! hope it's cooling off down there!
love this. i'm cataloging good ideas. been thinking of you — the binky fairy came to our house this weekend… a few tears so far, but not nearly as many as I expected.
This looks great!
