Louisville

This post is for my brothers and my dad…and basically everyone else in my family who likes sports and is thinking it’s a little ironic that I got to go here instead of them since I do not have a true appreciation for the game that is baseball.  Michelle, this means you’ll have to be in charge of turning on the computer and showing dad the internet for the second time in his life.
A few weeks ago we took a day trip to Louisville.  Yes, Kentucky!  One of those states where you think, What in the world is in Kentucky?  Well I was there and I saw it!  Turns out people live and work there just like in every other state.  Fascinating.  We really loved our visit and even got to meet up with one of my good friends from college (Hi Francis!–why didn’t we take any pictures?).  From what we saw Louisville is a really lovely city and we want to visit again soon.  My only regret is not taking more pictures.  However we did get some pictures of our first stop which was the Louisville Slugger museum and factory.  Now we’ve done some “factory tours” that are no where near the actual factory and they just show you a bunch of TV clips demonstrating how they make their product and you’re like, hmmmm…I could have watched this at home, thanks guys (I’m talking to you Jelly Belly).  But here you got to walk through the actual factory and watch them make actual baseball bats.  Anyone who knows me, knows I’m not into professional sports at all….like, at. all.  But this was really cool.  Unfortunately we couldn’t take any pictures in the factory because it’s top secret.  Seriously.  How very Willy Wonka of them right?  No Oompa Loomp’s though.  Long story short….the bat factory was cool.  Here are some pictures from the museum part of the factory.
Anyone see where I put my giant baseball bat?  Oh there it is.
The hubs posing with Mickey Mantle’s bat.
Up close.
Holding Mickey Mantle’s bat, wearing Mickey Mouse’s gloves.

Me and the Babe.
Babe Ruth’s Bat.

A close up of Babe’s bat showing where he made little hatch marks for every home run.
Very cool.
Lamp’s first bat.
The Mr. taking some hits in the batting cages.  He did alright…I also decided to step into the cage.  Aaaaand I hurt my wrist.  Stop lauging.

So that was it.
One more reason to visit the Cincinnati area…you get to see Kentucky!
